Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU), operating under the Horizon 2020 programme, is a Public-Private Partnership between the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium aiming at increasing investment in the development of a bio-based industry sector in Europe.
Bio-based industries are a significant and fast-growing subsector of the bioeconomy, accounting for 3.7 million jobs and € 698 billion turnover in the EU28. Bioeconomy investments are crucial to reduce Europe’s dependence on non-renewable resources and to make our economy more sustainable.
With an indicative budget of €115 million, BBI JU has recently launched the 2018 Call for proposals that focuses on four strategic orientations of the bio-based industry: Feedstock, Process, Products, and Market uptake. BBI JU supports research and innovation to demonstrate enabling technologies which can produce new chemical building blocks, new bio-based materials, and new consumer products from sustainable sources of European and sustainably sourced biomass.
MSC R&D has been supporting high-tech companies in obtaining funding for bio-based technologies for a quarter of a century. The deadline for BBI JU proposal submissions is the 6th September 2018. Do not hesitate and contact the MSC R&D team on 0114 230 8401 today!
