Why should a client care whether their R&D Tax Credit provider is ISO 9001:2015 certified?

In November 2018 MSC R&D achieved recertification of ISO 9001:2015 for the UK.

This quality standard firmly establishes MSC R&D as a company that can demonstrate to clients it can consistently offer its services to the highest quality. The independent audit and recertification was conducted by global organisation BSI Group.

To quote Nick Lawrence, our Quality Manager, “MSC R&D’s successful recertification of ISO 9001:2015 is yet another validation of our laser focus on achieving the highest levels of client satisfaction in our sector. Client satisfaction is the lynchpin of our business strategy. The ISO 9001:2015 certification, which is based on quality management principles including client focus, superior management motivation and implication, the process approach, and continual improvement, represents the highest standards for conducting business with other businesses.”

So, what exactly does this mean to a company considering who to select as their R&D Tax Credit advisor?

Well, basically it means that, first, all the core processes relating to engaging with the client and completing the work have been developed with maximising customer satisfaction in mind, and, second, these processes are regularly audited to ensure they are continually improved.

From scheduling the activity in, to selecting the appropriate analysts to fit the client’s technology, ensuring all pre-information is collected in advance, undertaking the activity in the most time-efficient manner, and producing the final report, MSC R&D’s processes ensure that quality and compliance is optimised and that the time impact on the client is minimised.

In terms of the MSC R&D analysts undertaking the work, these are highly experienced individuals, recruited via a rigorous accreditation process and trained at least twice a year by our own ex-HMRC R&D Tax Credit expert. This means a client gets someone who can talk his language and has an in-depth understanding of the R&D Tax Credit regulations.

In terms of client feedback, we ask for and get plenty of feedback on the activity day and use this to help tweak our processes in the search for perfection and consistency.

A company doesn’t have to choose a R&D Tax Credit advisor who is ISO 9001 accredited, and might get lucky if they get them on a good day – but the question is why, when with MSC R&D it is always going to be a good Day!
