Formed in 2013, Saberr is a people analytics company, whose mission is to make teams in every workplace perform at the top of their game through the application of technology, and AI in particular.
Its main people development software product is CoachBot – which uses algorithmic and self-learning techniques to develop teams to work well together. Its clients are forward thinking organisations of all sizes where team work is important, including blue chips such as Unilever and Nat West.
THE IMPORTANCE OF R&D
“As you can imagine, replacing the traditional human coach model with a computer presents some exciting R&D challenges, particularly in the field of AI.” says Nik Brbora (CTO). “It is a very new area and we are continually looking at how we can get closer and closer to our goal of having a fully interactive coaching system that uses proven, accountable and quantitative methods rather than the guesswork and reactive based approaches of traditional team building methodologies .”
THE MSC R&D SOLUTION
Prior to using MSC R&D, Saberr had initially used an accountant, and then a specialist to do their R&D tax credit claims, with both solutions involving significant input from the Saberr team.
So, when we were recommended to Saberr in 2017, the potential benefits offered by our fast-track Blitz approach, underpinned by our technical expertise, convinced the company to engage us.
Employing our process, two of our experts – Chris Berry (a technology expert) and Paul Lawrence (qualified accountant) spent a day with the Saberr team ensuring all eligible R&D projects were properly identified and accessing relevant financial data.
Following the Blitz day, the MSC team prepared a comprehensive report which ensured that Saberr’s claim to HMRC was optimised and fully compliant with HMRC rules, ensuring its successful processing was a formality.
This exercise also included reviewing previous claims, where a number of omissions were identified, resulting in an additional and significant reclaim.
As a result, MSC R&D continue to be Saberr’s R&D tax credit claims advisor.
