EFQM R4E – how it helps optimise your R&D Tax Credit claim?

By August 3, 2021August 23rd, 2022No Comments

MSC R&D successfully achieved a 5-star EFQM Recognised for Excellence status at the first attempt following a rigorous 3-day assessment in April 2020.

At the time, Nigel Foster, our Managing Director, said:

“This is the culmination of all our staff and associates’ hard work and shared passion in the embracing and implementing of MSCs continuous improvement culture which maintains at all times MSC R&D’s Centre of Excellence status in the business services it provides.”

Over a year later, what difference has this meant to our clients?

The EFQM Model

Since its inception, the EFQM Model has provided a blueprint for organisations across and beyond Europe to develop a culture of improvement and innovation.

If you want to define a strong purpose, inspire leaders at every level and create a culture committed to driving performance, while remaining agile, adaptive and able to evolve for the future, then the EFQM Model is for you.

It helps define your purpose

Purpose is the lifeblood of any organisation. Without it, there is no reason to serve. The EFQM Model places an unparalleled emphasis on the importance of purpose, vision and agile strategies to organisations if they are to create sustainable value.

It helps create your culture

The EFQM Model is an innovative culture creator, valuing core quality beliefs and shared goals at the heart of organisations whilst allowing them to remain connected and committed to their vision.

It helps forge strong leaders

Effective leadership keeps an organisation true to its purpose and vision, which is why the EFQM Model advocates a ‘leaders at every level’ approach to ensure strong decision-making, collaboration and teamwork in every team and every project.

It helps transform your organisation

Transformation takes time, and the EFQM Model supplies a tried and tested framework to make the process of landing effective change as smooth and pain-free as possible.

It helps address unique organisational challenges

EFQM understands that all organisations are different and there is no one size fits all approach to transformation. That’s why the EFQM Model was built from the ground up to be both adaptive to unique organisational obstacles and flexible enough to deliver on its promise of performance gains.

It helps foster agile practices

To be agile amid emerging threats is the marker of an effective organisation. The EFQM Model provides organisational analysis and insight to lead a safe path to progress and transformation.

It helps forecast the future

The EFQM Model has been designed from years of experience in changing markets to understand the benefits of organisational analysis, future forecasting and predictive intelligence in driving true transformation.

What difference does it make to our clients?

MSC’s EFQM R4E accreditation is recognition of our commitment to business excellence and continuous improvement.

With R&D Tax Credit claims, our focus is not only on optimisation and compliance, but also on ensuring we minimise the likelihood of any HMRC enquiry. Even though we are confident we can defend them, they still take up time.

A key factor in achieving this is in how the claim is presented to the assessor.

The key to any successful presentation, and this includes a R&D Tax Credit submission, is about hitting the reader with the salient facts in an easy to understand manner.

With ISO9001, you can generally be confident that the facts are there.

With EFQM R4E, you can be confident that thought and research has also gone into how the facts should be presented in the most effective manner – clear and to the point, and in line with the way the HMRC assessor works, giving them the information they are looking for.

Making their job easier ticks a lot of important boxes.

MSC R&D’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement is achievable thanks to our unique strategic and tactical support:

Strategic

Gavin Bate is our expert consultant on R&D Tax Credits. Gavin was responsible for the R&D legislation when he was at HMRC and wrote  their internal CIRD guidance manual on the subject. He regularly discusses relevant policy and legal issues with HMRC, and is an active member of the R&D Consultative Committee.

Tactical

We also have an ex-HMRC senior R&D tax inspector who is employed as our internal Quality Assurance officer, providing compliance checks to our claims prior to submission. Every single claim is reviewed by him and he ensures rigorous compliance to HMRC eligibility criteria which helps us maintain our ISO9001:2015 quality standards.

It is worth noting that this independent expert considers MSC’s due diligence on claims to be market leading.

If you are looking for the best service, then talk to MSC R&D. We have EFQM R4E for a reason.
